The CEO fired Himself.
Yep, that's not what he had in mind when he hired us.
So why did it happen?
So a quarter ago, we got hired by a firm to be their fractional brand strategist as they got ready to get some shift management in place, and they wanted to make sure they aren't just moving in the right direction but also are branded in alignment with that, as are the people in the company.
So who better to call right?
We don't work in a traditional manner, our focus is to build a brand from within, but not just the company but with the people in it, so that they don't just align with the vision of the company but also contribute to its focus with personal alignment.
An Organisation's purpose is influenced by the alignment of the purpose of all its people!
This is our driving principle. Why? Because a brand is built by the people in a company, collaborating and working in alignment. So we first need to help them find clarity so that they can build a company in alignment and hire people who align with those values and vision too.
Hence we first focus on the internalisation of the leaders and people in the company first before building a brand strategy for the company as a whole.
You need an aligned purpose to have an aligned vision. The purpose is foundation.
What made him quit?
It's easier to scale a business when you are passionate about it.
But what do you do when you are in a business that you don't align with?
This was the case with the CEO of the company that hired us.
While the company had a great impact to create and was ready to work towards its purpose when the time came to it.
The personal passion and vision of the CEO wasn't in sync with what he was doing and will be doing for the rest of his life.
See he wasn't incompetent or we didn't reveal something bad about him.
This isn't a drama.
He was so good that, he was hired to create great changes as he had a reputation for it. Funnily the last four companies he was hired at were for the same reason. And while he loved helping these companies scale but he wasn't fulfilled by his job. And he was getting close to a burnout caused by this.
And while we did our strategy session, we didn't just focus on the company, we even focused on the leaders building the future of the company. And after we finished our session, that evening we got a message from the CEO.
"Hey Arcui, that was a great session... Really helped the team get in sync, and align with our purpose and passion... Thank you. I think it's time for me to quit and move on. Have a good day."
What a Badass?!
The importance of self-discovery.
Sometimes you can do amazing things and that will drive you for a very long time, It fulfils you, thats how you know you are following your purpose. But you have to keep discovering more and what's next for you.
Purpose is an ongoing process. You keep discovering more of it as you grow. And when it's time to move on deeper your passion while still there starts to fade and you look for something new, something that will fulfil you further and help you be more connected.
So you need to keep discovering and facilitating an environment that allows you to scale further and connect deeper outside of your work so you are in touch with yourself and you don't have to go through a slice-of-life movie montage.
